Backblast – Ivey Redmond 4/14/21

12 PAX joined YHC on a perfect weather morning to reminisce Dean and Crawdaddy beatdowns. While there was no Catan, there were hills. A definite crowd pleaser! More on that in a moment. The dirty dozen were; Florida, Lucky Charms, Crawdaddy, Gilmore, Bambi, Crankbait, Wolverine, Mugsy, Hook’em, Weezy, Sludge, and Wham-o. With an expertly dictated and pontificated welcome and disclaimer we moseyed to the upper parking lot to our normal warm-o-rama circle. Warm up was sun gods, chinooks, helicopters, imperial walkers, & frankensteins.

For the thang and as promised; first was a Dean inspired variation of 11’s with a partner at the IR hill. As YHC was explaining the plan he could see the confusion on the PAX faces. Not wanting to add more confusion YHC decided to just let the chips fall where they may and any correction would happen on the fly. The 11’s variation went like this.

Starting at the bottom of the hill, Partner 1 amrap squats while partner 2 ran to the top of the hill and performed one merkin and then return to the bottom to switch with partner 1. At which point, partner 1 ran to the top of the hill and performed one merkin and partner 2 amrap squats. Continue this madness until both partners had performed reps 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, & 11 of merkins. YHC was pleased that most of the PAX understood the madness. After the squat/merkin combination was completed we combined amrap shoulder taps with LBC’s at the top of the hill. The voice inside my head said this was a lot of shoulder taps, well I thought I said that to myself but Bambi appropriately replied, “that is a lot of shoulder taps.”

Now that we had taken in all that was good from this Dean-esque beat down; I recalled Crawdaddy’s angry Ivey Redmond Q and called for suicides across the parking lot with a bonus of adding a burpee at the first line, 2 burpees at the second line, 3 burpees at the third line and so on and so forth. Having sufficiently reached Nebraska and spending a little extra time in Omaha, we once again gathered for Mary for dying cockroaches and hammers.

-Prayers for Ryan Wickstrom having colon surgery today,
-Prayers and praises for Chipper, in good spirits and Drs do not find it necessary for any further treatment. Chipper will visit the oconologist every three months.
-Continued unspoken prayers for Hook’em
-Officer Houle had surgery yesterday to reconstruct his jaw and will be in the hospital for several days. Officer Houle also threw out the first pitch Monday night at Kernersville Little League’s opening day.
-Prayers for all involved with the officer involved shooting in Minnesota.
-Praise, Thin Mint named platoon commander of his ranger platoon at Texas A&M. Living his dream.
