Backblast – Pain in the Park, Saturday, 9/5/20. DeJa vu all over again.

12 Pax rolled out to the first morning in 2 months where the humidity was below 98%.  Felt dang cool….at first.  Two laps (about a mile and a quarter) into the 3rd iteration of the F3 Barkley, Luck Charm was heard to say, “This feels great.  I’m just now breaking a sweat.”  YHC looked away and snarled as his lungs were at DefCon 3 and deteriorating.  As referenced before, YHC pulled out an oldie but a goodie weinkie for his 3 year anniversary Q.  I believe Pax members Pacer and Swiss Miss have made all three.  Duvet, Special, Chipper, Lucky Charm, and Epstein enjoyed at least their second go-round, and Gilmore, Crawdaddy, Monet, and Qbert enjoyed their virgin F3 Barclay beatdown….enjoyed may not be the right word…

WOR: SSHs, Mtn. Climbers, Imperil Squat Walkers (by the 4th or 5th rep, Gilmore had figured out the cadence and nailed it the rest of the way), maybe something else…don’t remember.

The Thang: A four station course was set up around the boundary of the school. Half the group traveled clockwise, the other half counter-clockwise stopping at each pain station to perform a high rep exercise.  The clockwise course had stations for 30 LBCs, 25 WWIs, 30 Freddie Mercuries IC, and 25 Crunchy Frogs.  The counter-clockwise course had stations for 30 Plank Jacks IC, 25 Carolina Dry Docks, 20 Sun gods forward and 20 Sun gods reverse IC, and 25 merkins.  Each group would change directions and travel the opposite direction at the conclusion of every lap.  All Pax members completed 4 laps for a total of about 2.5 miles.  Swiss Miss had to throttle back a couple of times.  He probably would have made another full lap if Duvet hadn’t been in his group.

6MOM: 20 count Ab Roll, which someone said was better used to describe a sushi dish, and 15 AHs.

The lungs and the abs got pushed a little today.  Shout out to Monet for toning it.  Nobody’s gonna recognize that dude in a year.

COT:  Prayers for Mulligan as he and his sister take on the challenge of supporting his brother through alcoholism rehab.  Students, teachers, parents, administrators, and staff of all levels of education that are pushing through to do the best they can in very difficult circumstances.  If I missed something, someone please add it as a reply.

Always an honor, Gentlemen.  It’s good to be back, and thank you to all who have supported me, gigged me, pushed me, pulled me, laughed at me, laughed with me, crop dusted me (you know who you are), prayed with me, prayed for me, worked with me, played with me, and generally kept me engaged for the last 3 years.  It’s been a life changer.

Checkbook, out!!!
