Backblast: Bus Benches, Military Time

As the Q arrived right on time followed by Boone’s Farm, aptly named by Tardy as “The New Tardy,” sixloyal pax joined in the gloom for a military-inspired workout.

Pax: Fortran, Madoff, Tardy, Sludge, Boone’s Farm, Dr. Evil (QIC)

  • SSH’s, 20 IC
  • Abe Vigoda’s, 10 IC
  • Seam Rippers, 10 IC (clapping optional)
  • Imperial Walkers, 20 IC
  • Sungods, 20 IC, Reverso

The Thang:

4 for the Core (sorta):

  • Side Plank Right (60 seconds)
  • Side Plank Left (60 seconds)
  • Back Plank (60 seconds)
  • Superman (not really an exercise in the Army) (60 seconds)

Conditioning Drill 1

  1. The Bend and Reach
  2. The Rear Lunge
  3. The High Jumper
  4. The rower
  5. The Squat Benmder
  6. The Windmill
  7. The Forward Lunge
  8. The Prone Row
  9. The Bent-leg Body Twist

The 10th exercise would typically be The Push-up, but we took this opportunity to explore how we would do on the current APFT, modified to remove the running and improved to recognize the future of hand release merkins.

2 minutes, AMRAP:

  • Hand release merkins
  • WWII sit ups

Well done by the pax who gave it their all.

The manual, if you are interested, can be found here:

  • Low Slow Flutters, 20 IC (and really slow)
  • American Hammers, 15 IC (not so slow)

  • Prayers for Allie (rehab)
  • Prayers for Tardy’s great aunt, Mary Davis, in GA, progressive cancer
  • Prayers for Slice & Dice’s M, surgery on Thursday
  • Madoff led us out

Thanks for the opportunity to explore this new workout–certainly not delivered as precisely as the military would, but it is likely the source of additional Q’s.

Dr. Evil

For Madoff’s viewing pleasure…
