Backblast Pain in the Park: “Keep ’em counting”, 1.12.19

PAX: Wham-O, Boons Farm, Checkbook, Epstein, Pacer, Sludge, Sprinkler, Radar, Dr. Evil, Flo Rida, Glimore , Lucky Charms,  Duvet(Q)

13 Pax braved the cold for a virgin queue. There was some mumblechatter about the disclaimer as there really was none – we just moseyed over to the circle for

  • Sun Gods IC x 15 one side x 12 the other (counting isn’t my strength)
  • Abe Vigodas x 14
  • Seam Ripper/Cotton Pickers X 15
  • Frankensteins x 15
  • Mountain Climbers x 15

A quick jog over to the parking lot behind the school to begin The Thang

Pax partnered up for initial instructions that were clear as mud. Partner 1 was to do the exercises below on the parking lot line while the other ran to the end of the parking lot and back. As partner 2 returned, they were to pick up the count of the exercises from their partners last completed rep:

  • Squats X 150 reps
  • Lunges X 150 reps
  • Thigh Masters X 150 reps (QIC did not define clearly that lunges and thigh masters were 150 reps PER leg)

As the confusion set in though, the mumblechatter quieted to just counting. A pat on the back from Sludge saying “keep ’em counting to keep the chatter down” inspired the title and kept the peace through this initial set off.

After completion we slow moseyed up the hill a bit and then moseyed to the benches. Instructions were delivered in the QIC’s facilitation voice (not anger) as instructions needed to be clear for this round of partner work. Similar to the previous round, partner one ran from the benches over to the walkway bars to complete 10 big boy sit-ups while partner 2 completed the following exercises. As before, partners continued counting for the other partner once they returned:

  • Merkins X 100
  • Dips X 100
  • Derkins X 100

From the benches, the tired but not so weary Pax moseyed over to the school entrance for a few exercises OYO:

  • Shoulder taps X 50 off the curb
  • Monkey Humpers X 30
  • Plank Jacks X 25

Again, instructions were a little shaky here as QIC did not indicate IC or single count, and being worn down, QIC said whichever floats your boat. From the entrance another mosey to the amphitheater for the final exercises of 11’s on the benches and the stage:

  • Abyss Merkins (QIC called them suicide merkins and was quickly corrected – and thank you Epstein for the demonstration of this great exercise in an earlier queue)
  • WWI’s

Sadly, time was running thin, but the QIC’s winkie still had plenty of exercises left on it –> guess those will be the beginning of the next queue.

The pax moseyed to the BBall court for:

  • LBC’s X 15 IC (though QIC made it sound like halt was called at 10, 12, 13, 14)
  • Cindy Crawford’s both sides X 10 IC
  • Superman
  • Hammer’s X 20 IC

Sludgefest – signup – Today is the last day! Around $30 per person (not a fully vetted number yet) Good food, 4 types of cookies, some spirits from Gilmore (probably?) and Sludge has “water” at the house (referring to Bud Light)

Sprinkler’s buddy that was in the hospital was released yesterday – his heart is back in rhythm now – prayers for a life change for him

A 34 year old that works with Sludge passed away suddenly – don’t know a lot of details – known for Fun Sock Friday

Sludge led us out

This was an honor gentlemen! I appreciate the grace with my lack of counting abilities – this may or may not improve in coming queues.
